The Bowland Trail Half is a half (almost) distance self navigating trail race starting and finishing from Slaidburn village hall. Like its sibling race, it’s also raising money for charity and the local foodbank
The race start is at 10am Saturday 10th January 2026. Race check in opens after the Ultra has departed at 8am and closes at 09:45am. Parking available at local pay and display but please lift share where possible.
Entry costs £29 (affiliated) and £34 non-affiliated until mid November. If you are unwaged/student or similar then perhaps consider volunteering for us, there are plenty of opportunities that can be done before and after the race and can be used to pay for your entry (and volunteering is great craic).
What do you get for your money? Well apart from a great day out!
- Map and route description (route available now, see ROUTE tab of website for GDrive download links), easy to follow and there will be marshals at key junctions (but not all!)
- Mid race aid station offering snacks and refreshments,
- Route GPX,
- Podium and good egg prizes,
- Post race meal,
- Finishers momento (not some junk, this will be something you can use and admire!)
- Changing and shower facilities, bag drop and cake sale at race HQ,
- Experienced hill safety teams keeping you safe.
There is a kit list for this event and this may be checked when you collect your race number. No kit- no race!
Below is the minimum kit list, if you run a little cold consider bringing more.
- Waterproof top (with hood and taped seams),
- Waterproof bottoms (taped seams),
- Something to carry all this in,
- Spare warm layer (spare as in not worn on start line and not intended to be worn unless emergency),
- Whistle,
- Compass,
- Gloves,
- Hat,
- Map of the route (provided when you register),
- Emergency food (2 Mars bars or similar),
- Mobile phone, charged and switched on,
- Cup or similar as none will be provided at the aid station,
- Something for the foodbank! Please check what they need here so we don’t end up with a mountain of beans.
There will be podium prizes and a good egg prize (just like the Ultra) that rewards sustainable travel and good sporting acts on or off the course, please report your fellow runners if you think they deserve special attention (for example last year 2 ultra runners lent their spare headtorches and guided a runner who had broken both of his own torches).
